Intern/Co-op - Refining Electrical Engineering (Fall 2027)

You will also develop a broad understanding of refinery operations by working with professionals across different refining process areas and have opportunities to expand your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineers
  • Work on real-world electrical and instrumentation projects in a refinery setting.
  • Develop and apply project management skills including scope alignment, cost and schedule development, and teamwork across multiple engineering phases.
  • Support area teams to deliver engineering solutions.
  • Build toward professional project management roles managing projects of all sizes.
• Reliability Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineers
  • Troubleshoot E&I issues at the refinery.
  • Analyze equipment failures and develop solutions for recurring issues.
  • Submit Project Request Forms (PRFs) to implement solutions.
  • Understand equipment maintenance strategies.
  • Use electrical analysis software to resolve coordination issues and conduct Arc Flash studies.
  • Learn how Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are applied.
• Process Control / Technical Service Engineers
  • Support projects related to process control systems throughout the refinery and product movement areas.
  • Troubleshoot system power supply problems.
  • Perform control system programming and hardware/software lifecycle replacement projects.
  • Install and troubleshoot communication networks.
  • Monitor control system performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Major in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong academic performance.
• Authorization to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Availability for spring, summer, and fall semesters; preference for multiple work terms.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
• Military experience is a plus.

Pay

Minimum: $32.92 per hour Maximum: $41.67 per hour
