Internship Details

Terracon is seeking students in the civil, geotechnical, geological engineering, or physics degree program for internships. Internships run from May-August, and co-op opportunities run from May-December. Positions are available across the U.S.

Program Overview

The Terracon internship programs focus on the Geotechnical service line. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, receive mentorship, and gain exposure to various aspects of consulting engineering.

• Learn and advance technically
• Receive opportunities for professional development
• Work with a mentor to develop career plans and technical skills
• Understand interactions between the geotechnical engineering line and clients
• Participate in a cohort to connect with other interns and build professional networks
• Create and present a final report to executive leadership at the end of the summer

Summer Activities

• Laboratory safety and work practices
• All aspects of laboratory testing capabilities and their purposes
• Understanding soil test procedures (ASTM, DOT, COE, etc.)
• Shadowing field exploration teams
• Data review and report preparation
• Proposal creation
• Basics of project management
• Communication of test results (internal and external)
• Introduction to GeoReport
• Quality management system and procedures

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling or testing as directed
• Seek learning opportunities from mentor
• Provide assistance to other field and/or laboratory personnel
• Aid other technicians or professional staff on routine tasks
• Gradually increase role of training and responsibility in work assignments
• Create and give a final presentation to leadership regarding summer experiences

Qualifications

• High school diploma and pursuing a BS or Master's degree in civil, geotechnical engineering, or physics
• The ideal candidate will have less than one year remaining to complete their BS or MS degree

Compensation

Maximum Salary: $24.20/hour
Minimum Salary: $18.00/hour

The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
