About the role

The Summer Intern at the Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS) will join the collections management team for the summer and gain valuable work experience.

Responsibilities

• Aiding with the complete inventory of the collections
• Digitizing collections
• Housing, organizing, photographing, and cataloging collections items
• Helping with exhibit development and fabrication

Requirements

• Graduate student working towards Master’s in Museum Studies, recent graduate with a Master’s in Museum Studies, or undergraduate student in a related field
• Knowledge of museum collections and ethics
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database software

Qualifications

Examples of former intern projects include the creation of a Historic Marco Island City Driving Tour, designing a professional publication template for our quarterly newsletter, and the award-winning Marco Memory Project.
