About the role
As an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real business and technology challenges for clients around the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, build in-demand technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects while learning in a collaborative, team-based environment. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation.
Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and contribute to project delivery.
- Design and document solutions by creating technical specifications and documenting design decisions to support effective communication and collaboration.
- Build high-quality software by developing scalable, reusable code and participating in code reviews and software quality practices.
- Develop modern applications by contributing to cloud-native and full-stack applications using technologies such as databases, operating systems, cloud platforms, and modern UI frameworks, with a focus on user experience, performance, security, and quality.
- Assist with application configuration, workflow development, testing, integrations, documentation, and continuous improvement activities while learning how ServiceNow solutions translate business requirements into automated enterprise workflows.
- Gain exposure to software engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), DevOps, Agile, and enterprise application development while working with experienced engineers, architects, and technology professionals on real client projects across multiple industries.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Interest in software development, application engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence, automation, or digital transformation.
- Basic understanding of programming concepts and experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, or similar technologies.
- Basic understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, APIs, and problem-solving concepts.
- Exposure to ServiceNow, workflow platforms, enterprise applications, JavaScript, or automation technologies through coursework, projects, certifications, internships, or personal learning.
- Awareness of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, automation, cybersecurity, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience gained through academic projects, internships, hackathons, student organizations, research, volunteer experiences, IBM SkillsBuild, certifications, or other practical learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to software development, cloud technologies, web applications, enterprise platforms, or modern application development through coursework, student projects, hackathons, research, open-source contributions, or internship experiences.
- Familiarity with Git, APIs, databases, Agile development, DevOps concepts, cloud platforms, user interface frameworks, or software engineering best practices.
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, automation, enterprise application development, consulting, and continuous learning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates while supporting application modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
High-performing interns may be considered for full-time Associate opportunities following graduation, based on business needs and individual performance.
