Intern, Adult Editorial

Bloomsbury is seeking a Fall Editorial Intern for its Adult Trade team. The intern will assist a close-knit team of editors in the publication of literary/upmarket fiction and general nonfiction.

About the role

Interns play an integral role in day-to-day operations within a small team. Projects reflect the diverse aspects of trade publishing.

Responsibilities

• Promptly read, evaluate, and discuss manuscripts and proposals (both fiction and nonfiction)
• Attend editorial meetings, season launches, check-ins, and other meetings as necessary
• Lead the literary award submission process
• Conduct research and contribute to metadata
• Assist with mailings, copyright processes, and drafting of materials
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Demonstrated interest in the publishing process and contemporary literature
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage time effectively
• Reside in the NY tri-state area and able to work in person at the midtown Manhattan office 2 days per week

Schedule

• Position runs from September 1 – December 8 with the opportunity for extension
• 29 hours per week, including core hours of 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday–Thursday

Pay

$18.00 per hour
