About the role
Join the Pipeline Engineering team within EXP’s Energy Services, based in the Houston office. You’ll work on a broad range of renewable, natural gas, or oil projects, contributing to innovative solutions for the world’s built and natural environments in an employee-owned company that values diversity, sustainability, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design work, including hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pipe specifications, HDD calculations, workspace layout, alignment sheets, site-specific drawings, feasibility studies, routing, cost estimates, and material take-offs with limited oversight.
- Apply knowledge of CFR Parts 192 and 195 to oil and gas projects.
- Use CAD and GIS applications to assist in completing work deliverables.
- Coordinate with staff to finalize deliverables and provide direction to drafting designers for design drawings (plot plans, plan and profile drawings, alignment sheets, HDDs, material take-offs).
- Direct GIS mappers to complete route maps, project maps, survey maps, geohazard mapping, progress maps, footprint maps, and access road maps.
- Oversee data analysis, drawing, and mapping assignments without management oversight.
- Interact with clients, stakeholders, and various personnel during assigned projects.
- Follow ISO 9001:2015 quality requirements, including reviewing, documenting, validating, monitoring, and improving procedures.
- Assist with proposal writing, scope development, and preparation of execution plans.
- Travel for field exercises, reconnaissance, field truthing, verification, and surveys as required by projects.
- Support project-specific safety plans and participate in workplace safety initiatives.
- Learn new engineering fields and technologies to expand the team’s knowledge base and productivity.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in pipeline engineering.
- Previous experience with natural gas or liquid pipeline operators or engineering consultants.
- Project experience including pipelines, pipeline facilities (valves, traps, meters), and coordination with stakeholders such as right-of-way, environmental, and survey teams.
- Hands-on experience preparing alignment sheets, HDD designs, routing studies, ROW layout, workspace, RMV placement, geohazards, plot plans, material take-offs, and cost estimates.
- Design experience, including completing calculations, reviewing specifications and codes, overseeing design drawings, and approving them.
- E.I.T or P.E. preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience with renewable, natural gas, or oil projects (e.g., high-pressure transmission pipelines, compression, storage, gathering, treating, processing) is a plus.
- Experience with carbon capture and renewable energies (e.g., H2 transmission, solar, wind) is a plus.
