About the role
The Operations Research Analyst (Intermediate) supports the NGC2 program within the US Army. They perform complex analytical assessments, investigate technical or operational issues, and provide structured, data-driven recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex analyses using operations research, mathematical modeling, simulation, and data analytics
- Investigate complex technical or operational issues and provide structured, data-driven recommendations
- Use statistical, optimization, and decision-science tools to support program leadership decisions
- Support scenario analysis, risk evaluations, and performance trade studies
- Study processes, workflows, and systems to identify improvement opportunities
- Analyze the impact of new concepts, modernization initiatives, or operational changes
- Support modeling of system behavior, resource usage, and performance metrics
- Prepare technical briefings, reports, and decision products for government/client personnel
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Participate in meetings, IPTs, and cross-functional analytical reviews
- May lead or supervise small teams of operations analysts conducting analytical tasks
- Provide analytical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts
- Ensure analytical tasks meet quality, rigor, and documentation standards
Requirements
- Education: MA/MS/MBA from an accredited college or university in Operations Research, Management Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative/technical field
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in data analytics, operations research, or quantitative analysis
- Supervisory experience: At least 5 years in a supervisory or lead analytical capacity
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with analytical tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, SAS, or optimization/modeling software; strong understanding of statistics, linear programming, simulation, forecasting, or cost modeling; ability to develop, validate, and interpret analytical models and complex data sets
Qualifications
- Excellent problem-solving and quantitative reasoning skills
- Strong communication skills for presenting results to senior stakeholders
- Ability to lead small teams and provide analytical direction
- Domain expertise: Experience supporting command-and-control, sustainment, readiness, or modernization programs; familiarity with Defense decision-making processes, JCIDS, or acquisition logistics
- Tools & Systems Knowledge: Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik); familiarity with simulation software (Arena, AnyLogic, ExtendSim); experience with machine learning or advanced analytics techniques
Desired qualifications
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- Leverage Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Defense Acquisition University (DAU) coursework related to analysis or systems engineering
Pay
$70,800.00 - $139,300.00
