Intermediate Carpenter

About the Role

This position provides operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. The qualified candidate must have extensive carpentry experience and the ability to work with little supervision. The Intermediate Carpenter assists with scope development alongside BELFOR Estimators and runs projects autonomously while mentoring basic-level carpenters. Development objectives include expanding capabilities from residential to commercial and multi-family projects, leading and self-performing emergency services, and increasing material knowledge across carpentry subsets such as framing, cabinetry, and trim.

Responsibilities

• Recognize potential problems with the project and request additional guidance or assistance in a timely manner.
• Answer most project-related questions and direct complex or specific inquiries to the appropriate resource.
• Move and protect contents without damage.
• Construct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt, and airborne contaminants in the working area.
• Using appropriate tools and accepted BELFOR methods, perform tasks related to floodcutting, salvaging, and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc.
• Attend and successfully complete shrink wrap training and complete 4 projects containing shrink wrap.
• Develop the ability to identify different types of insulation, their thickness, and their respective R-value.
• Apply learned skills and material knowledge related to trim, doors, cabinetry, insulation, rough framing, acoustical ceilings, roofing materials, and exterior siding to daily tasks.
• Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain the vehicle in clean, serviceable condition.
• Maintain attention to detail.
• Meet BELFOR Standards in safeguarding other people’s property.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
• Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
• Work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodically.
• Report time worked, equipment, and consumables used accurately and timely.
• Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.
• Supervise unskilled labor, basic-level BELFOR employees, and occasional subcontractors in residential settings.
• Answer simple project-related questions and defer complex questions to more qualified personnel.
• Maintain equipment used in daily tasks.
• Perform emergency services as needed, such as board-ups and securing buildings against further damage.
• Complete additional duties as required.
