Intermediate Architectural Designer (Full-time, mid-level; 3 years experience)
Position Overview
TRE Group seeks an Intermediate Architectural Designer who can lead drawing production and coordination, uphold technical quality, and own day-to-day design execution. This role includes meaningful project management responsibilities: consultant coordination, permitting workflow support, schedule tracking, and team oversight.
Responsibilities
Design Leadership + Technical Execution
- Produce and coordinate presentations, drawing sets, and renderings from concept through permit and construction support.
- Proactively check and coordinate project documents for technical quality (sheet organization, details, dimensions, code items, and interdisciplinary coordination).
- Demonstrate strong understanding of building materials, systems, codes, details, and construction techniques.
- Develop and follow clear drawing standards, checklists, and QA/QC routines.
Permitting + Jurisdiction Coordination
- Support permitting processes in Los Angeles and other jurisdictions (submittals, plan check cycles, revisions, and resubmittals).
- Track plan check comments and ensure responses are complete and documented.
- Career Development
- Coordinate with expeditors and external consultants as needed.
Project Management (Designer-to-PM expectations)
- Create and maintain design schedules (deliverables, due dates, dependencies).
- Lead or co-lead coordination with consultants (structural, civil, MEP), including agenda prep, meeting notes, action items, and follow-ups.
- Communicate progress, constraints, and decisions clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Support task assignment and accountability for junior designers and interns to meet deadlines.
Requirements
Major or degree in Architecture or a related field required.
3+ years of experience in design development, architectural design, documentation, and detailing; residential experience preferred.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and general 3D modeling/rendering.
Strong organizational systems (tracking, documentation discipline, version control).
Strong communication, problem-solving, and ability to drive coordination across multiple parties.
California Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.
