Interior Electrician (12R)

Job Duties

• Install transformers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, service panels, switches, electrical boxes and lightning rods
• Read blueprints, wire plans and repair orders to determine layouts/repair
• Test equipment for the operational conduction of circuits
• Inspect power distribution systems, shorts in wires and faulty equipment
• Repair and replace faulty wiring and lighting fixtures

Requirements

• Must meet DoD requirements
• Take the ASVAB, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you
• Training for interior electrician requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training
• Learn fundamentals of electricity, electrical circuit troubleshooting, safety procedures, techniques for wiring switches, outlets and junction boxes
• Have an interest in electricity, science and math
• Be able to use hand tools
• Preference for doing physical work
• Have an ASVAB score of 93 or higher in Electronics (EL)

Compensation

• Total compensation includes housing, medical, food, special pay, and vacation time
• Earn up to $40,000 in cash bonuses for certain Military Occupational Specialties
