Interior Designer (Level 3)
About the role
Join our Community Environments (CE) Market team in Seattle, WA, where you’ll design and deliver healthy, thriving mixed-use communities. As an Interior Designer (Level 3), you will oversee all phases of the interior design process, including concept design, programming, space planning, furniture selections, fixture and equipment specifications, material selections, design documentation, and detailing. You will manage the preparation of graphic presentations and design drawings, and collaborate closely with architectural staff to ensure design intent is integrated and maintained throughout all project phases.
Responsibilities
- Lead interior design teams in generating comprehensive original interior design concepts and completing design deliverables, including preliminary design documentation, conceptual plans, 3D renderings, and exhibits.
- Collaborate with architectural and design staff on projects of varying types and scales, ensuring designs align with jurisdictional requirements, client standards, constructability, and programmatic guidelines.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of interior construction documents to lead, manage, review, and guide interior design production efforts.
- Assist with the production of interior design-related construction documents as required.
- Conduct design research from benchmarking sources for ideation and provide detailed design documentation to architectural project teams.
- Oversee surveys of existing conditions for potential tenant improvements, identify risks, and review design solutions with the Project Manager and design staff.
- Research project materiality and FF&E specifications, considering durability, aesthetics, and sustainable design, and provide recommendations based on scope, budget, and sustainability goals.
- Oversee data collection, project programming, and preliminary space planning.
- Lead interior design meetings and actively participate in architectural team meetings.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of design deliverables and interior design-related construction documents to maintain design intent.
- Research building products and materials to generate preliminary project specifications for furniture, fixtures, and finishes.
- Collaborate with specification writers, sustainable material specialists, product representatives, and Project Managers to finalize project specifications.
- Contribute to Construction Administration procedures, including review of interior design-related RFIs and project submittals.
- Oversee production of interior design deliverables for RFP/RFQ responses and marketing proposals, providing guidance as needed.
- Manage internal and external design resources to ensure consistent quality and project profitability.
- Actively participate in building and supporting a design culture at MG2, adhering to design rigor standards and processes.
- Produce accurate and timely work in accordance with project schedules, workplans, contractual obligations, design intent, and budget.
- Perform monthly 1:1 check-ins with internal team members (People Managers only).
- Conduct mid-year check-ins and year-end performance reviews (People Managers only).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a professional architecture or interior design firm, with a focus on:
- Residential interiors, including multifamily apartment and condominium projects (units, amenity spaces, lobbies, and shared public environments).
- Hospitality environments, including hotel guestrooms, suites, amenity spaces (spa, wellness, fitness, pools, outdoor terraces), lobby environments, food + beverage venues, and other guest-facing public spaces.
- Proficiency with Revit, Sketch-Up, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity, VRay, and Enscape.
- Certification as a licensed professional preferred.
- Additional experience in Food & Beverage environments, including stand-alone concepts and hospitality-integrated venues, is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to design concept development, materiality, storytelling, and guest experience-driven environments.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and interactions.
Pay
$80,000 to $110,000 per year (depending on qualifications).
