About the role
The Interior Designer III position at JCJ Architecture supports the development of design and documentation. This role involves balancing owner/client goals, functional objectives, and physical context alongside project scope, constraints, and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project.
- Liaises with Project Manager, Architects, and consultants.
- Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects.
- Coordinates with Director and Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.
- Communicates and collaborates with internal and external consultant team members.
- Maintains and initiates frequent communication with JCJ team members to sustain proper information flow.
- Prepares meeting notes using standard JCJ formats.
- May perform checking of junior staff level work, when requested.
- Assumes leadership of selected portions of presentations.
- Supports business development activities by creating presentation collateral including digital or physical finish boards, visual slide-deck presentations.
- Assumes individual responsibility for producing portions of design and documentation and may direct junior staff in those assigned areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, plus eight or more years of related experience.
- NCIDQ Professional Registration (preferred but not required).
- Advanced Computer and Information Management Skills (AutoCAD, Revit).
Skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in computer aided visualization skills via multiple software applications.
- Knowledge of Building, ADA and Life/Fire safety codes.
- Ability to manage and maintain resource materials and data base in physical and digital libraries.
- Experience in creating interior design solutions.
- Ability to prepare and analyze FF&E specifications and budgets.
- Knowledge of Furniture, Fixtures, Equipment (FF&E) and Material costs.
- Ability to perform numeric tasks such as square footage calculations, furniture counts, and material quantity take offs for budgeting purposes.
- Understanding of industry construction best practices.
- Ability to make financial recommendations to clients.
- Ability to coordinate with 3rd party FF&E procurement companies.
- Ability to develop strategies for cost management at each phase of the project in collaboration with Senior Leadership.
