About the role

The Support Lead assists the Store Manager and Customer Service Manager in directing Front End Leads and sales associates while serving as the Manager on Duty. This role is responsible for key store functions, delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all associates and managers deliver outstanding customer service through personal engagement.
• Achieve CSAT score goals set by the District Manager.
• Lead front-end operations and train staff on the High Fives of Customer Service.
• Ensure fast, friendly checkout experiences for every guest.
• Maintain store cleanliness, recovery, and readiness for customers.
• Perform opening and closing store procedures.
• Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Supervise, train, coach, and develop all associates.
• Review and act on corporate communications.
• Partner with supervisors or corporate on store-related issues.
• Drive store sales and control expenses, including payroll within budget.
• Assist in merchandising, receiving, and stocking procedures.
• Unload merchandise, check shipments, stage and pack out merchandise.
• Support front-end and queue merchandising.
• Drive key metrics: Sales, ADS, CSAT Scores, and Expense Control.
• Perform store maintenance (e.g., garbage disposal, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, stock room upkeep).
• Adhere to and enforce Five Below’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Handle cash procedures, including bank deposits, and authorize register functions (post voids, returns, discounts).
• Comply with Human Resources policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently operate a cash register.
• Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove items at heights of 5–10 feet.
• Frequently ascend/descend ladders for stock retrieval and storage.
• Frequently kneel, bend, twist, and stoop in the stock room and sales floor.
• Frequently communicate with customers, managers, and coworkers in person and by telephone.
• Frequently move across the sales floor and between the sales floor and stock room.
• Identify and interpret email and print instructions (e.g., merchandise layouts, schedules, SOPs).
• Remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and think creatively.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
