Interim School & College Counselor
School Counselors at Central Catholic High School provide services for high school students in grades 9-12. Counselors deliver support in individual, small group, classroom, and graduating class assembly settings. They implement a comprehensive school counseling curriculum addressing academic success, college planning, and social-emotional development.
About Central Catholic High School
Founded by the Marist Brothers in 1935 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Central Catholic High School (CCHS) enrolls approximately 1,200 students from over 60 cities and towns. The faculty and staff are a diverse group of dedicated professionals committed to student academic success and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Plan and/or implement school counseling programs, including classroom lesson plans, graduating class assemblies, parent evening agendas, and college planning materials.
- Attend parent meetings as assigned by the Director of School Counseling.
- Seek and develop an understanding of student needs through consultations with faculty and administration.
- Oversee and manage Scoir for assigned students on caseload.
- Assist with school day standardized testing.
- Submit required college application documents to admissions offices.
- Create letters of recommendation for senior students applying to college.
- Maintain communication with parents/guardians of students on caseload.
- Follow timelines and develop programs for the developmental school counseling curriculum.
- Maintain student records, including testing results, progress reports, and counseling software (Scoir and Rediker).
- Pursue professional growth through workshops and/or graduate courses.
- Support and administer school procedures and policies as outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook and Faculty & Staff Handbook.
- Uphold the educational and spiritual mission of the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the role.
Requirements
- Commitment to the mission of Central Catholic High School and the Marist philosophy.
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience, enrollment in a Master’s of school counseling program, or a Master’s degree in counseling or a related field.
- Strong communication skills with faculty, administration, staff, students, and parents/guardians.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Google Suite and experience with guidance-related software.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,725.00–$80,433.00, based on education and experience.
