Interim Lower School Music Teacher (2026-2027 Academic Year)

About the role
The Lower School seeks a full-time music teacher to cover the 2026-2027 school year. This is a one-year position for 2026-27; the position may be eligible for renewal depending on school needs.
Responsibilities
- Teach general music to Grades K-5.
- Plan and implement a balanced program to include music appreciation, harmony, theory, choral music, instrumental music, and the historical and cultural aspects of music.
- Conduct Grade 5 Glee Club.
- Plan and oversee all music performances and events that include music presentations, including Lower School concerts, assemblies, and end-of-year ceremonies.
- Provide musical direction for the annual Grade 5 play production.
- Support the planning of Lower School assemblies.
- Have optional opportunities to teach after-school music classes.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience teaching elementary classroom music.
- Demonstrated ability and skill with age-appropriate music.
- Experience sequencing for healthy vocal development.
- Strong piano or guitar skills.
- Training in Orff and/or Kodaly methodology is preferred.
- A degree in music education is preferred.

Pay
For the 2026–27 academic year, faculty salaries range from $50,000 to $120,000 annually. Placement within this range is determined by years of experience, in alignment with Milton Academy’s faculty salary scale designed to ensure equitable pay progression.
