Interim Controller

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, grant accounting requirements, and internal controls.
• Prepare financial statements, oversee cash flow, support budgeting, and identify opportunities to improve financial processes.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team while fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Partner with executive leadership and present financial reporting and analysis to board committees and organizational leadership.
• Maintain financial stability and operational continuity throughout the executive transition.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive financial management and accounting experience.
• Strong financial accounting background.
• Nonprofit accounting experience highly preferred.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of grant accounting under GAAP, including exchange transactions vs. contributions, preferred.
• Hands-on experience within a small organization and a demonstrated commitment to affordable housing and community development.

Compensation and Benefits

• $70.00–$72.00 per hour, based on experience.
