Responsibilities
- Cook up and conduct interconnection studies for offshore wind, energy storage, public policy transmission, and other new clean energy projects.
- Carry out substation power-flow and short circuit analyses.
- Pinpoint local and system upgrades to ensure reliable electric system operations.
- Handle internal engineering support tasks; interact with NYISO and merchant developers.
- Pinpoint impacts of new generation/transmission/load projects on the bulk electric system; recommend modifications to NYISO.
Qualifications
- Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of work experience in the planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. Or Master's Degree in Engineering and 6 years of work experience in the same field.
- Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and 8 years of work experience in the planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and 6 years of work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in the design and/or operation of the electric power system, required.
- Proficiency in using PSS/E, TARA, Aspen or equivalent power system simulation programs, required.

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
Additional Physical Demands
The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
