Job Responsibilities
- Deliver up to three EAP courses per semester in accordance with the VTLCI curriculum.
- Related duties as assigned, which may include administrative tasks such as placement testing, institutional reporting, student advising, and other duties.
- Adhere to and maintain program policies and procedures for curriculum, grade recording, attendance, and assessments.
- Participate in planning and development of curriculum, including creation and revision of courses.
- Organize and implement orientation sessions, and complete pre- and post-term duties during intersessions as assigned.
- Submit grades and other required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Contribute to and participate in staff development sessions, regular staff meetings, and ongoing program development.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a mutually supportive team environment.
- Participate in professional development activities, including yearly attendance and/or presentation at TESOL conference at the international or affiliate level.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or very closely related field with a TESOL certificate (minimum 18 credit hours).
- Considerable experience teaching a variety of university ESL/EAP courses, levels, and skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use the latest technology and teaching techniques.
- Experience with integration of technology in the classroom including learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Knowledge of and experience with curriculum design and evaluation.
- Understanding of the US University system and environment and of the demands that international students will face in undertaking undergraduate level study.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- International work experience.
- Proficiency in a foreign language.
