Our partner is seeking an Intelligent Automation Engineer to support a growing portfolio of enterprise modernization and automation initiatives within the Defense sector. This role will focus on designing, developing, testing, implementing, and supporting intelligent automation solutions that improve financial and operational business processes.

Location: Shiloh, IL / On-site at Scott Air Force Base
Schedule: On-site, generally 9:00 AM–5:00 PM depending on project needs
Clearance: Active Secret clearance preferred
Compensation: $65,000–$90,000/year

About the Role

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in intelligent automation, robotic process automation (RPA), software development, data integration, or related technologies. Experience with platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or Microsoft Power Automate is highly desirable. This role provides an opportunity to combine automation engineering, enterprise technology, data, and AI to solve complex business challenges within federal environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support intelligent automation solutions that improve financial and operational business processes.
  • Build scalable automation workflows using RPA platforms and modern automation frameworks while maintaining reliability, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Assess business processes to identify automation opportunities, evaluate process maturity, and prioritize high-value opportunities for RPA and intelligent automation.
  • Analyze existing workflows and design improved business processes that align with organizational objectives and integrate effectively with existing functional and technology environments.
  • Integrate automation solutions with enterprise applications, databases, APIs, financial systems, reporting platforms, and cloud-based data environments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership to gather requirements and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Perform risk assessments related to internal controls, business process reengineering, automation governance, and configuration management.
  • Support the full automation development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Monitor automation performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement enhancements that improve reliability, efficiency, and business value.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, process maps, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), testing artifacts, and operational support documentation.
  • Provide end-user training, knowledge transfer, and post-implementation support to encourage adoption and resolve technical issues.
  • Support continuous improvement of automation solutions and identify opportunities to incorporate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled and agentic automation capabilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing automation solutions, process improvements, or enterprise application integrations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. Clearance sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
  • Strong technical foundation in intelligent automation, robotic process automation (RPA), software development, data integration, or cloud technologies.
  • Experience with RPA or automation platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar technologies.
  • Programming or scripting experience using Python, SQL, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications, databases, APIs, reporting platforms, and cloud-based data environments.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
  • Ability to analyze business processes, identify automation opportunities, and translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, including process workflows, solution designs, test plans, and user support materials.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver solutions within established project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing intelligent automation solutions for complex financial, operational, or mission-critical enterprise processes.
  • Experience supporting automation initiatives involving ERP systems, financial management platforms, enterprise data platforms, or reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Power BI, Databricks, Palantir, Celonis Intelligence, cloud-native integration services, or AI-enabled automation solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise financial systems such as OneStream, GTAS reporting, or similar government financial management platforms.
  • Experience with process mining, business process reengineering, automation assessments, or developing enterprise automation roadmaps.
  • Understanding of data quality management, validation, reconciliation, interface monitoring, and enterprise data governance practices.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning, or agentic AI solutions and their application to intelligent automation.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, enterprise modernization, cloud migration, or other large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Experience working in enterprise, government, financial, or highly regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with internal controls, compliance requirements, and governance frameworks within federal or Defense environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications in RPA, automation, cloud platforms, or related technologies, such as UiPath, Microsoft Power Platform, AWS, or Azure certifications.
