About the role
The City of Plano is seeking a skilled and motivated Integration Developer (MuleSoft) to design and deliver modern integration solutions that connect systems, streamline operations, and enhance services for our community.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable integration solutions.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support integrations using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
- Develop, publish, and consume RESTful and SOAP APIs; maintain API specifications and documentation.
- Build integrations across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises systems using real-time, batch, file-based (SFTP/FTP), and event-driven approaches.
- Implement enterprise integration patterns, including API-led connectivity, event-driven, and service-based architectures.
- Create data mappings, transformations, and integration design artifacts.
- Implement robust error handling, logging, monitoring, and resiliency strategies (e.g., retries, timeouts, fault tolerance).
- Ensure secure integrations using industry best practices (OAuth, certificates, secrets management).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and release management processes across environments.
- Monitor and support production integrations; troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational runbooks.
- Contribute to integration standards, reusable components, and best practices across the organization.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of API design and development (REST/SOAP) and integration patterns.
- Experience with data transformation, JSON/XML, and integration technologies.
- Knowledge of authentication and security protocols (OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
- Hands-on experience with the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (or similar enterprise integration platforms).
- Solid understanding of system integration concepts across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience implementing API-led connectivity and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles and integration governance.
- Experience with message queues, streaming, or event platforms.
- MuleSoft certifications (e.g., Developer Level 1 or higher).
- Knowledge of messaging and integration patterns, including queue-based and publish/subscribe (pub/sub) models.
- Experience with automated testing for integration solutions (e.g., MUnit, JMeter, or similar tools).
- Experience integrating with SaaS platforms such as Salesforce (e.g., Connected Apps, Platform Events).

Pay
The target annual rate for the Integration Developer is $89,693 - $104,640; depending on qualifications.
