About the role

The Intake Coordinator will serve as the centralized point of coordination for all veteran village housing intakes across Tunnel to Towers Foundation Veterans Villages nationwide. This role will be based out of the Staten Island location and will work closely with Program Directors, Associate Directors and the Senior Director of Supportive Housing and Services. The Intake Coordinator will oversee the intake process from initial inquiry to placement, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across all sites. This individual will provide oversight to local intake staff, maintain data integrity, and ensure compliance with internal quality standards. The role will also involve collaboration with external partners and local agencies to support veteran referrals and housing placements. In addition to local responsibilities, the Intake Coordinator will work across statewide and national levels with other Site Directors to assist in filling units, coordinating between departments, and referring applicants to appropriate programs both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming veteran housing applications across current and future Veterans Village sites.
  • Manage, coordinate, and standardize intake procedures across all programs to ensure compliance and quality consistency.
  • Screen, interview, and assess applicants, collecting relevant documentation while maintaining a respectful and trauma-informed approach.
  • Communicate regularly with site leadership teams to confirm eligibility, verify documentation, and facilitate smooth transitions into housing.
  • Provide guidance and training to site-level staff on intake protocols, documentation standards, and system updates.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all applicant data in alignment with Quality Assurance and Compliance standards.
  • Track and report on intake metrics, referral sources, and application trends; identify areas for process improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison between Tunnel to Towers and external referral partners, ensuring alignment with Continuum of Care and community resources.
  • Support applicants not eligible for housing with resource referrals or alternative program connections.
  • Assist with national audits, file reviews, and compliance reporting as required.
  • Perform additional administrative or leadership duties as assigned by the Director or Senior Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, behavioral sciences, human services, social work, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in housing intake, social services, or case management required.
  • Experience in supportive housing or veteran-focused programs strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across sites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask multiple projects and supervise personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems (AWARDS or similar) preferred.
  • Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.

Working conditions

Special working conditions may include a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed. Travel required (10%).

Pay

$55,000–$65,000
