Intake Assessor - Assessment (Nights)

About the Role

Assess the level of care for walk-in, phone call, and hospital patients to ensure their referral to the service or resource that best addresses their needs. Additionally, assess patients in other facilities as instructed by the manager. The clinician will also handle other duties assigned by the manager, such as supervisory on-call responsibilities and public relations tasks. Provide crisis counseling for children, adults, and families as requested.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients in walk-in, phone, and hospital settings for appropriate referrals.
• Assess patients in other facilities as directed by management.
• Perform supervisory on-call duties and public relations tasks as assigned.
• Provide crisis counseling for children, adults, and families.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organizational information.
• Complete basic data entry tasks and use computers for record-keeping.
• Apply principles of abnormal psychology and mental health in assessments.
• Manage crises and use persuasive skills with resistant patients or family members.
• Obtain and maintain CPR and SCIPP Verbal De-escalation certification within 90 days of employment.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification.
• Safe Crisis Intervention for Patient and Professionals (SCIPP) certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• License-eligible by the GA Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, or Marriage & Family Therapists.

Qualifications

• Ability to concentrate on tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent oral communication and legible handwriting.
• Skills in analyzing and evaluating information, problem-solving, and crisis management.
• College-level reading, comprehension, writing, and mathematical skills.
• Familiarity with psychological, sociological, and medical terminologies.
• Basic knowledge of mental health principles and abnormal psychology.
