About the role
Insurance Verifier will possess excellent written and verbal skills and be in communications with physicians' offices and patients. The role involves verifying benefits and coverages of insurance plans specific to the patient, calculating estimated patient responsibility, and making contact with patients to arrange payments for upcoming procedures. The Verifier will work closely with other facility members to source accurate information for all cases.
Responsibilities
- Ensures insurance verification is completed accurately and within a minimum of three days prior to the date of service.
- Accurate data entry in patient accounting software (HST) according to procedure.
- Ensures authorization forms are in the medical record prior to the date of service.
- Contacts patients to communicate patient responsibility due on the date of service.
- Verifies a minimum of thirty-five accounts daily.
- Assures Health Stream education is up to date and completed prior to annual evaluation.
- Participates in regular departmental staff meetings and facility-wide meetings.
- Consistently punctual and adheres to company attendance policy guidelines.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff and ensures a high level of employee satisfaction and retention.
- Handles frequent interruptions and re-evaluates priorities as needed.
Qualifications
- High School graduate.
- Minimum of one year of experience in business office activities within a healthcare environment.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in English for contacting payors, patients, and co-workers.
- Demonstrated computer skills in utilizing word processing, integrated databases, and understanding of mathematical calculations and medical terminology.
