Insurance Specialist - Pulmonology

Full Time, Weekdays 8a-4:30p. In-person, Pulmonology Dept - Main Hospital. Hourly Range: $16.19-$19.99.

About Our Team

Sovah Health is a regional health care delivery system with 2 hospital campuses - Danville and Martinsville. Each facility has a 24/7 Emergency Room, Outpatient Imaging Center, and over 20 primary and specialty care physician clinics. Our Danville location is also a teaching hospital that trains medical students and physician residents specializing in family and internal medicine.

Responsibilities

• Is responsible for the verification/documentation of insurance benefits, securing pre-certification/referral numbers and estimating/collecting patient liabilities on all outpatient scheduled procedures.
• Ensures that pre-certifications required by managed care companies for scheduled surgeries and procedures are obtained on a timely basis and documented in advance of appointment.
• Works closely with physician offices and hospital departments to obtain necessary clinical information.
• Creates and explains patient liability estimate for all scheduled and add-on procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 2 years of college or medical office specialist education is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with insurance, pre-certification and authorization with various insurance companies is required.
