Insurance Representative

About the role

Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while advancing the field of neuroscience. Our business office is looking for a full-time insurance representative who facilitates the accurate and timely filing of medical claims to insurance carriers.

Responsibilities

• Corresponding with patients to obtain missing information
• Diligently following up with insurance companies to ensure payment
• Correcting errors on claims that were rejected
• Handling insurance refund requests
• Submitting appeals for denied claims
• Interacting with patients who have questions regarding their financial responsibility for medical services rendered through Semmes Murphey Clinic

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years' work experience related to medical claims reimbursement, preferably in a large medical practice or with a medical insurance carrier
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), various software programs, and internet applications
• Organizational skills with attention to detail

Skills

• Familiar with the concepts, terminology and practices within the medical insurance field
• Able to communicate effectively and persuasively in both positive and negative situations
• Can skillfully gather and analyze information and appropriately respond to routine problems
• Will provide excellent customer service while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion
