About the role

The Insurance Follow-Up Representative is responsible for physician billing and collecting of third-party account receivables. Duties include researching accounts, re-filing or appealing claims, submitting additional medical documentation, tracking account status, initiating contacts, negotiating resolutions, receiving and resolving inquiries, and processing payments and payment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Research accounts and re-file or appeal claims
  • Submit additional medical documentation
  • Monitor and analyze assigned unresolved third-party accounts
  • Initiate contacts and negotiate appropriate resolution (internal and external)
  • Receive and resolve inquiries and correspondence from third parties and patients
  • Analyze, audit, problem solve and reconcile accounts
  • Communicate with external contacts and patients regarding patient financial liability, non-coverage, payment processes, and Explanation of Benefits
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive service experience

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of current experience in a health care billing and collection environment or relevant health care setting using an accounting/health care computer system or 2+ years of related experience with preferred education
  • Experience in interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s), physician billing statements
  • Basic PC and Internet literacy
  • Medical Terminology, CPT & ICD coding application knowledge
  • Working knowledge of major third-party payers and their websites
  • Proven good analytical and mathematical ability
  • Proven excellent interpersonal communications skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with patients, physicians, management, and third-party representatives
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of tasks with speed, attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited program
  • 3+ years current experience in a health care billing and collection environment or relevant health care setting using an accounting/health care computer system or 2+ years of related experience with preferred education
  • Understanding of a diversity of insurance plans
  • Epic Professional Billing knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to access and retrieve information from the EHR

Pay

Hourly pay for this role will range from $17.98 to $32.12 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
