Insurance Defense Legal Assistant

Bressler, Amery & Ross, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a Legal Assistant for its Insurance Defense Practice Group, focusing on first-party coverage including windstorm, fire, theft, water damage, sinkhole, and “collapse claims.”

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing and analyzing cases to determine their readiness for trial litigation.
• Organize case files and documents.
• Track cases and calendar all necessary deadlines.
• Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other necessary events.
• Manage attorneys’ calendars.
• Handle document production.
• Draft simple pleadings including notices, subpoenas, and motions.
• Perform electronic filings.
• Interact with firm personnel, third-party witnesses, external vendors, outside counsel, and clients.
• Prepare standard form responses.
• Research case law to be submitted to the Court.
• Support other projects as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ current legal assistant experience in insurance litigation.
• Experience with insurance defense/first-party property claims.
• Experience with Florida E-Portal filing and Court Management System for all Florida Circuit Courts (required).
• Experience with Federal Court (preferable).

Skills

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management system(s).
• Strong proofreading and organizational skills.
• Able to manage multiple tasks.
• Team player: provide back-up support when available and as needed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000. The salary range does not guarantee, obligate, nor set expectations of an applicant’s salary in the event of hire. Actual compensation will depend upon several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.
