Responsibilities
- Advise insurance carriers on their rights and obligations under liability policies
- Author coverage opinions and coverage position letters, including reservations of rights and disclaimers
- Manage insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions on behalf of carriers
- Analyze general liability, commercial auto, trucking, excess/umbrella, and specialty lines policies
- Conduct legal research and draft concise, persuasive legal analysis
- Collaborate with experienced litigators on novel and high‑exposure liability claims
- Handle New York state court personal injury defense matters from intake through resolution
- Train and supervise junior attorneys on coverage and defense matters
- Participate in negotiation and settlement of claims
- Comply with client billing guidelines and enter time daily
Qualifications
- J.D. and licensed to practice in New York (New Jersey admission a plus)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience, with a focus on insurance coverage litigation and policy interpretation
- Experience representing insurance carriers in declaratory judgment litigation
- Strong background in insurance coverage, including coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and disclaimers
- Experience with commercial auto/trucking liability coverage and excess/surplus lines carriers preferred
- Proven experience with New York personal injury defense litigation preferred
- Courtroom experience required

Pay
Salary range: $125,000 – $200,000 per year, plus bonuses (competitive base salary up to $200,000 DOE).
