About the role
The Office of Administration & Finance Business Operations at Oklahoma State University is seeking an Insurance Claims Analyst to support the university’s risk management and insurance operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned insurance programs throughout the policy lifecycle, including underwriting data collection, asset valuation reporting, renewals, claims administration, invoicing, rebilling, and regulatory documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between university departments, State Risk Management, insurance brokers, underwriters, and emergency management agencies.
- Cook up policy renewals, review coverage for accuracy and gaps, maintain insurance records within the Risk Management Information System (RMIS), and support insurance budgeting and premium allocation processes.
- Oversee claims management activities for assigned policy areas, including investigation, reporting, documentation, and tracking.
- During major loss events, serve as a key coordination and communication point with university leadership, emergency management personnel, state agencies, and federal organizations such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Zero-six months of related experience.
- Five (5) plus years of insurance claim experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge
- Knowledge of insurance administration, commercial insurance programs, underwriting processes, claims management, policy analysis, and institutional risk management practices.
- Knowledge of financial and operational insurance processes, including asset valuation reporting, insurance budgeting, premium allocation, invoicing, rebilling procedures, and Risk Management Information System (RMIS).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, leadership, brokers, underwriters, and government agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively during emergency or high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with database management, spreadsheets, and reporting tools related to claims tracking, policy administration, and insurance reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Five (5) plus years of experience in insurance claims.
- CRM or similar certification.
Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge
- Experience in insurance claims administration, risk management operations, or commercial property and casualty insurance programs within higher education, government, or other complex organizations.
- Experience independently managing insurance programs, claims workflows, compliance activities, and emergency response coordination.
- Proficiency in financial and insurance administration processes, including policy renewals, underwriting documentation, budgeting support, premium reconciliation, and claims documentation management.
- Experience using Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and maintaining accurate insurance and claims data.
Pay
$60,000 - $76,000
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
