Insurance Associate
About the role
O’Melveny & Myers LLP is looking for outstanding associates (2nd to 6th year) to join our Insurance Practice Group. Ideal candidates should have excellent academic credentials and demonstrated experience in litigating complex business disputes, including experience in legal research, discovery disputes, and witness work. Candidates with prior experience litigating insurance coverage disputes preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of litigation, including legal research, discovery disputes, and witness work.
- Work closely with clients and colleagues to understand their needs and develop effective strategies.
- Prepare and present arguments in court and before administrative agencies.
- Manage cases efficiently, ensuring timely and thorough preparation for hearings and trials.
- Collaborate with other departments within the firm to ensure comprehensive client service.
Requirements
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Demonstrated experience in litigating complex business disputes.
- Experience in legal research, discovery disputes, and witness work.
- Prior experience litigating insurance coverage disputes preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Admitted to practice law in California or another jurisdiction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Effective oral advocacy skills.
- Experience with insurance coverage disputes a plus.
Benefits
The salary range in Los Angeles for this role is $235,000 - $390,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
