Responsibilities

• Apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
• Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
• Plan work and select proper tools.
• Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Read and interpret ISO(s) and other instructions, determine the amounts, and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll form).
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure.
• Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors. Prepare surfaces for insulation application.

• Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices
• Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
• Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.
• Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.
• Participate in workplace inspections.
• Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
• Participate in required and assigned training.
• Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
• Present a mature approach to working safely.
• Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.
• Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.

Qualifications

• Level III: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience
• NCCER Insulation journeyman certification Level II: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience
• NCCER Performance Insulation journeyman verification
• Other verified experiences or certifications with insulation experience
• Level I: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience

Requirements

• Read ISO's, Blueprints, P&IDs
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan, and perform work activities independently
• The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience
• Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List
• Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions

• All weather conditions at varying temperatures
• Work at varying elevations
• Will work in windy and dusty environments
• Moderate to high noise levels
• The project site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools
• Able to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
• Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
• Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
• Able to talk and hear to communicate
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
• Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
