Responsibilities
- Apply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks, and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
- Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Plan work and select proper tools.
- Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
- Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
- Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
- Read and interpret ISO(s) and other instructions, determine the amounts, and select required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll form).
- Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure.
- Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces, using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors. Prepare surfaces for insulation application.

- Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.

- Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
- Participate in required and assigned training.
- Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
- Present a mature approach to working safely.
- Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute.
- Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.
Qualifications
- Level III: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience
- NCCER Insulation journeyman certification Level II: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience
- NCCER Performance Insulation journeyman verification
- Other verified experiences or certifications with insulation experience
- Level I: Four (4) + years of heavy industrial-related insulation experience
Requirements
- Read ISO's, Blueprints, P&IDs
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan, and perform work activities independently
- The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on months of experience
- Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List
- Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights
Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions
- All weather conditions at varying temperatures
- Work at varying elevations
- Will work in windy and dusty environments
- Moderate to high noise levels
- The project site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools
- Able to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
- Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
- Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
- Able to talk and hear to communicate
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
- Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
