Insulator J1 - J4 (Day Shift)

About the role

General Dynamics NASSCO’s Lagging department in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking five Insulators (J1‑J4) for the day shift. The position involves work on ship construction, repair, conversion, and maintenance for commercial and national defense assets.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret insulation drawings, layouts, and install accordingly.
• Design and fabricate lagging pads.
• Install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
• Fabricate miters out of calcium silicate.
• Install calcium silicate and fabricated miters as required.

Requirements

• Must obtain DBIDS and NAVSEA badges to access Navy installations and other shipyards.
• No security clearance required.
• Must meet all Journeyman 3 Insulation Mechanical requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret insulation drawings, layout, and install.
• Capability to design, fabricate, and install lagging pads and calcium‑silicate miters.
