12-month contract position on W2 for US Citizens, Green-Card holders, or valid EAD/GC-EAD/OPT/CPT. Pay is $30/hour for 40 hours per week (8–4:30 preferred, but flexible).

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory equipment.
• Develop, execute, and document validation-related activities in a timely manner.
• Read, interpret, and work from technical manuals, SOPs, and schematics.
• Develop, review, and revise departmental procedures using strong technical-writing skills.
• Execute moderate to complex projects with limited supervision.
• Represent the Instrumentation department professionally to internal and external customers, vendors, and other company groups.
• Educate end users on basic calibration principles and recommend preventive-maintenance activities.
• Perform basic record-keeping and data-management tasks (e.g., entering equipment-history records, running reports, verifying data).
• Perform maintenance activities consistent with department policies and company requirements.
• Assist with equipment-inventory reconciliation and refurbish surplus/unused equipment.
• Operate independently within a team environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (A.S., B.A., or CST certification desirable).
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience with laboratory or hospital equipment.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience with ISO 9001:2008, 10012, 17025, or 13485.
• Experience with system databases such as SAP, CalMan, Microsoft Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong working knowledge of calibration principles and good documentation practices.
• Knowledge of refrigeration-equipment calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting is a plus.
• Ability to perform component-level troubleshooting, data analysis, and in-depth equipment repair.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive projects.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Moderate understanding of calibration principles, loop checking, troubleshooting, start-up, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Ability to use electronic test equipment and read schematics.
• Exceptional technical-writing skills.
• Current, valid, unrestricted California Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Physical Demands

• Frequently operates company vehicles and equipment.
• Frequently stands on feet for up to 8 hours per day (40 hours per week) and works in confined spaces.
• Frequently transports objects by hand, arm, or cart.
• Frequent operation of hand and power tools.
• Frequent lifting, raising, and lowering of laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, pumps, motors).
• Frequent bending at the knees or waist; occasional movement in and out of confined spaces.
• Moderate sitting.
• Frequently works on live electric equipment.
• Occasional overtime beyond 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day.
• Occasionally works in noisy conditions; personnel-protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes) required.
