Cole Jr Water Recycling Facility located in Lorton, Va. a good fit for you.

Wastewater Management is part of the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES). DPWES is a diverse, nationally accredited and award-winning public works agency with approximately 1,000 employees providing solid waste, capital facility development, wastewater, stormwater, urban forestry, and land acquisition management services for the most populous county in Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preventive maintenance & repairs of instrumentation and electronic equipment such as flow, level, and analytical measuring devices.
  • Reads simple technical manuals or drawings & complete repairs from them.
  • Works alone on the least technical instrumentation in the I& E field covering repairs, troubleshooting problems & preventive maintenance.
  • Documents work completed in a computer-based work order system.
  • Orders spare part and perform other duties as required.
  • Assists in maintaining the continuous emission monitoring system on the incinerator stacks.
  • Assists in calibration and repair on sensor and alarm systems for oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, explosive gas (methane), and fire detection systems.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a high school diploma or GED issued by a state department of education.
  • Completion of a vocation course in electronics, one year of work experience related to the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation or electronic/electrical equipment found in water or wastewater utilities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Confined Space Certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently.

  • Coursework in instrumentation/electrical/electronic technology or related field.
  • Electrical Journeymen License /or ISA certificate.
  • Experience working in an industrial wastewater environment.
  • One year of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical & instrumentation control systems.
  • One year of experience of working in water treatment, or a pump station maintenance group.
  • One year of experience reading instrumentation data, interpreting schematics, circuit diagrams, and manuals related to instrumentation or electrical equipment.

Skills

  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to drive 1/2, 3/4- & 1-ton utility truck and operate hoisting equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and use other automated technology to input, access and retrieve information from a laptop or desktop.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and temperatures.
