Instrumentation and Electrical Technician (3rd Shift)
Reports to: Master Electrician • Location: San Marcos, Texas
About the Role
Noveon is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to aid in factory start-up, electrical installs, and wiring. A qualified candidate will have a long history of quality job completion, extensive electrical knowledge, and a positive attitude. The role requires working with several teams across the factory floor and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Safely perform work in accordance with NEC NFPA 70, plant LOTO procedures, and local electrical codes.
- Troubleshoot PLC and HMI code.
- Diagnose and resolve automation and electrical control issues.
- Calibrate instrumentation including pressure sensors, thermocouples, and load cells.
- Analyze automation system logs to identify performance anomalies.
- Install cable trays, EMTs, rigid conduits, electrical panels, disconnects, and MCCs.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install instrumentation; transmitters, control valves, switches, breakers, starters, relays, and VFD.
- Utilize a variety of instruments including ultrasonic, mass flow, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RDs, load cells, etc.
- Pull wire and complete other tasks needed to finish projects on time.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all team members and contractors.
Requirements
- Journeyman license with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
- Experience in control wiring and specification.
- Ability to read electrical blueprints and work from schematics.
- Experience working with low and high voltage equipment: 24V DC and AC, 120V, 208V, 277V, and 480V.
- Experience running industrial equipment such as a forklift, boom lift, overhead crane, scissor lift, etc.
- 2 years of maintenance and troubleshooting experience (oil and gas or plant and manufacturing industry preferred).
- Knowledge of PLC I/O and analog.
- Able to work 2nd shift, after hours, and weekends as needed.
- Strong eye for safety and attention to detail.
- Professionalism, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team.
- Willingness to adapt, make changes, and develop creative solutions.
- Able to move up to 50 lbs and bend, crouch, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
