Instrumentation and Controls Intern
Internship Description
Collaborate with the engineering team to create detailed instrumentation and control designs
Assist with designs of SCADA systems and industrial Ethernet network architectures
Develop control schematics for process control equipment such as PLC panels, motor starters, and variable frequency drive enclosures
Development of P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and loop diagrams for various processes and systems
Participate in the selection of appropriate instrumentation components, such as sensors, transmitters, valves, and actuators
Collaborate on the integration of control systems with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical and mechanical engineering.
Aid in the preparation of technical documentation, including equipment datasheets, specifications, and manuals.
Assist in the review and evaluation of vendor proposals and technical submittals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Participate in internal design reviews and team meetings, actively sharing insights and learning from experienced engineers.
Requirements
Must be pursuing an electrical, electronics, computer, or automation engineering degree from an ABET or ATMAE accredited program
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
Previous experience with AutoCAD or Revit design software
Previous internship experience
Work Environment
This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting.
Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
