As an Instrument Technician specializing in Endoscopy, you will play an essential role in cleaning and reprocessing Endoscopy equipment while actively assisting with patient care and workflow throughput within the Endoscopy department. Responsibilities

  • Equipment Reprocessing: Cleaning, disinfecting, and managing flexible endoscopic equipment per departmental policies, manufacturer recommendations, and established infection control standards.
  • Scope Maintenance & Tracking: Overseeing the care and handling of flexible endoscopes, inspecting them for functionality, troubleshooting basic technical issues, documenting repairs, and sending equipment out when service is required.
  • Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting rigorous quality assurance checks on point-of-care equipment, high-level reprocessing equipment, and scope storage cabinets in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Direct Patient Care Support: Accurately performing clinical tasks under RN guidance—including taking vital signs (BP, HR, RR, Temp, SpO2), checking blood glucose, pulling 12-lead EKGs, applying cardiac monitors, and discontinuing IV therapy.
  • Specimen Collection: Safely obtaining blood, urine, stool, or other body fluid specimens and ensuring proper handling.
  • Departmental Flow & Throughput: Assisting in expediting workflow within the suite to promote efficient, high-quality patient care, while identifying opportunities to improve operational speed and reduce waste.
  • Inventory Control: Maintaining, stocking, and organizing instruments, clinical equipment, and medical supplies in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Environment of Care: Actively adhering to Standard Precautions, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and executing safety, security, and hazard management protocols.

Qualifications

To be considered for this Instrument Technician opportunity, you must be passionate about supporting safe, high-quality patient care through technical expertise, clinical competency, and collaborative teamwork.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous Clinical Care Technician (CCT) experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to blood, excrement, odors, and infectious/communicable diseases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor Certification or a Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) credential via HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM).

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $20.46 - $24.55 per hour. The compensation offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
