Instrument Tech II Lead - Sterile Processing Outpatient Surgery

About the role

As a lead in the sterile processing department, you will oversee the efficient operation of the outpatient surgery center’s sterilization process. You will ensure all instruments are cleaned, packaged, and sterilized according to strict protocols, maintaining a high level of sterility to prevent infections.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the sterile processing team
• Ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and regulatory standards
• Train and mentor new staff members
• Coordinate with surgical teams to prepare instruments and equipment
• Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed
• Perform quality assurance checks on sterilization processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sterile processing or related field
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques and regulatory requirements
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as needed

Qualifications

• Current certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution (SPD)
• Experience with medical device sterilization processes
• Proficiency in computer systems used for inventory management and scheduling

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
