Instrument Fitter - General Foreman I - Various Locations
About the role
Supervise the foreman by monitoring quality and safety, providing planning and direction, and overseeing construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Covers, briefs, and coordinates crew on daily work tasks
- Plans and prioritizes job tasks for assigned crews
- Directs and trains assigned supervision on the project for quality work and efficient production
- Familiar with the project safety plan
- Enforces safe practices and completion of required safety reports
- Maintains quality and quantity reports
- Comprehends blueprints, sketches, and plans
- Evaluates, monitors, and reports on work progression
- Maintains short-range look-ahead plans
- Serves as a subject matter expert in the field of work being completed to assist if needed or conduct training
- Serves as a liaison between the superintendent and specialty contractors
- Ensures work is compliant with the man-hour budget
- Performs project inspections
- Assists the superintendent in planning for job equipment, material, and employee requirements
- Attends required meetings

- Ensures adherence to safety procedures and work practices
- Reports incidents, near misses, and hazards to management
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations

- Completes required safety training
- Provides suggestions to improve safety
- Communicates in a mature and safe manner
- Attends prestart and safety meetings and contributes
Qualifications
- Level I: Ten (10) years of construction experience, six (6) years of craft-classified experience, two (2) years of supervision experience, manages five to fifteen (5 to 15) team members, formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical, or trade school such as NCCER Certification Plus, must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language
- Level II: Same as Level I, successful completion of Yates Supervisor training
Requirements
- Supervise installation per work packs and report quantities
- Complete time sheets for their direct reports to track progress and verify time
- Ensure the quality of the finished product, completing quality documentation including check sheets and final documentation
- Read ISO's, blueprints, P&IDs
- Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights
Physical Demands/Essential Job Functions
- All weather conditions at varying temperatures
- Work at varying elevations
- Work in windy and dusty environments
- Moderate to high noise levels
- The project site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools
- Ability to hear bells, whistles, and alarms
- Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4 or above
- Required to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, and lift heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
- Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
