Job Functions

The Department of Public Health & Health Education at SUNY Brockport is seeking a full-time Instructor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and student-centered academic community dedicated to preparing the next generation of school health educators. The successful candidate will teach online graduate-level courses, engage in service activities, and maintain an active program of scholarly engagement.

  • Teaching (70%): Teaches a 4/4 course load, creates effective course materials, and demonstrates successful student learning outcomes.
  • Scholarship (5-10%): Engages in scholarly activities to produce scholarly publications, presentations, and related scholarly work.
  • Service (20-25%): Actively participates in department level meetings, serves on at least one additional department committee per academic year, and provides service to the department, university, community, and profession.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health education or related discipline by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Ability to teach school health education courses
  • Demonstrated potential for increasing the diversity of the curriculum, student body or faculty through teaching/mentoring or scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications: Teacher Certification in Health Education, Familiarity with SHAPE, CAEP & NYSED standards, College and/or school health experience, Experience with online teaching

Pay

The salary for this position is $70,840.00 Annually.

Schedule

The work schedule for this position is variable. This is a 10-month academic position, eligible for continuing appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 2027.
