Responsibilities

  • Met and held classes as scheduled
  • Provided assistance to students
  • Referrals students to other college staff when necessary
  • Prepared, implemented, and evaluated student learning outcome-based course outlines based upon program outcomes
  • Kept current and competent in nursing practice and teaching methodologies
  • Maintained student records and monitored student progress
  • Created, administered, graded, and maintained records for exams, projects, activities, and reports for evaluation of students in each course
  • Conducted student conferences on a semester basis in relation to progress in classroom and clinical activities
  • Participated in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing program curriculum and student policies
  • Supervised and evaluated clinical performance
  • Completed and submitted institutional reports on a timely basis
  • Provided input and participated in College’s Planning Process
  • Maintained required office hours each week
  • Recruited students and implemented retention strategies
  • Participated/assisted with coordination of specific program/course management
  • Implemented the College’s Academic Advising System
  • Served as Advisor to selected student organizations and/or associations
  • Served as liaison between college, student, public, community, and business/industry in the area of professional expertise
  • Continuously participated in comprehensive program evaluation for program improvement and students’ achievement of program outcomes
  • Provided students and college with written course expectations as defined by the college including general course information, course outcomes, methods used in the evaluation of students, grading policy, attendance policy, textbooks, etc
  • Provided supervisor with a copy of all course SLOs and SLO assessment
  • Provided supervisor with a copy of all current course syllabi
  • Assisted with connecting program outcomes to institutional competencies
  • Conducted ongoing self-evaluations to improve instructional techniques and methodologies
  • Provided assistance in implementing the College’s Program Review process and recommendations
  • Promoted a positive image of college

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Two years in clinical practice as a registered nurse
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing with a concentration in Education from an accredited institution
  • Experience teaching in a nursing program that prepares graduates at entry level to take the NCLEX-PN and/or NCLEX-RN
