About the Role

The Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full/part-time Instructors to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2026-2027 academic year. Some appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position annually at the discretion of the Department Head. Appointment at the Instructor rank is anticipated, though a promoted rank may be considered based on qualifications.

The department is part of the College of Agricultural Sciences and focuses on Ecological Engineering, Biological Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering. Stakeholders include environmental consulting firms, ecotechnology providers, public resource management agencies, and others in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses (in-person, via Zoom, or on eCampus) 1-5 days a week, depending on the course.
• Schedule and organize lab courses as appropriate.
• Schedule and organize field trips, as needed.
• Grade all assignments and homework for the course.
• Work with the Head Advisor to collect required course documentation for accreditation.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • MA/MS or higher in Ecological, Environmental, or Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Evident commitment to inclusive excellence and educational equity.
  • Teaching experience at the college or university level.
• Preferred:
  • Evidence of teaching excellence (e.g., student, peer, or mentor evaluations).
  • Experience with instruction of distance education courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, teach, and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices.

Working Conditions

Classroom and/or Zoom instruction.
