About the role

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus institution located in Upstate New York, serving nearly 9,000 students annually. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and focuses on career and transfer preparation, workforce training, and distance learning.

Responsibilities

• Implement appropriate instructional duties, both classroom and laboratory.
• Develop and revise courses and curricula.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Participate on departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees for community building and professional development.
• Teach various physical sciences courses at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of successful classroom and laboratory teaching experience at the college level in the content area.
• Experience with integration of technology in the classroom/lab.
• Research and/or industrial experience is desirable.
• Experience with distance learning initiatives is preferred.
• Demonstrated success of student mentoring and/or resource room experience is preferred.
• Experience using the D2L Brightspace learning management system.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States unrestricted.
• Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

Skills

• Ability to teach various physical sciences courses.
• Experience with integration of technology in the classroom/lab.
• Desirable research and/or industrial experience.
• Desirable experience with distance learning initiatives.
• Experience using the D2L Brightspace learning management system.

• The minimum salary for this position is $53,000.00.
• This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days).
