Job Summary
Classroom Instructor
Job Duties
- Teach welding courses according to curriculum and syllabus.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Welding or Journeyman Welder.
- American Welding Society (AWS) Welding Certification.
- Two (2) years work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Technology or related area.
- Five (5) years work experience.
- Two (2) years teaching experience.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to adjust focus and deal with nonverbal symbolism.
Reasoning Ability
- Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in their most difficult phases.
- Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment
- May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
- The job may require working in a laboratory.
- The employee must be able to correctly follow all safety rules and regulations, operate appropriate laboratory equipment, and tolerate the presence of laboratory chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
