Job Summary

Classroom Instructor

Job Duties

  • Teach welding courses according to curriculum and syllabus.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Welding or Journeyman Welder.
  • American Welding Society (AWS) Welding Certification.
  • Two (2) years work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Technology or related area.
  • Five (5) years work experience.
  • Two (2) years teaching experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stand, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to adjust focus and deal with nonverbal symbolism.

Reasoning Ability

  • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in their most difficult phases.
  • Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Work Environment

  • May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The job may require working in a laboratory.
  • The employee must be able to correctly follow all safety rules and regulations, operate appropriate laboratory equipment, and tolerate the presence of laboratory chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
