Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting an environment of mutual respect among the interdisciplinary team, referring services, children, and families
  • PRACTICING HOLISTICALLY, CONSIDERING PATIENTS' PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL NEEDS
  • Obtaining a health history, performing a physical examination, and establishing a plan of care for pain related to the diagnosis.
  • Ordering and adjusting medication and non-pharmacologic therapies.
  • Ordering and evaluating diagnostic studies, including lab and x-ray
  • Collaborating with Pain Service physicians
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, evaluating and managing a follow-up plan based on the patient's response
  • Documenting in the medical record the chief complaint, history, physical findings, diagnosis, treatments, and progress
  • Initiating requests for consultation to other healthcare providers
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to maintain good communication among families, primary care providers, and other referral services
  • PRACTICING IN A FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER
  • Collaborating in the development of pain-related procedure statements, protocols and patient/parent educational handouts
  • ASSISTING WITH PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND DATA COLLECTION FOR RESEARCH AND/OR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
  • INDEPENDENTLY SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND OWN CLINICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AND ACHIEVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GOALS
  • SERVING AS A PRECEPTOR FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER STUDENTS
  • PARTICIPATING IN PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS AND NETWORKS WITH PROFESSIONAL COLLEAGUES
  • PARTICIPATING ON DEPARTMENT/DIVISION/HOSPITAL COMMITtees AS NEEDED/REQUESTED.

Work Location

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: APRN Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Colorado Graduate preparation in nursing (e.g., MS, ND, DNP) Certified in Colorado or ability to be certified in Colorado as an advanced practice nurse for pediatric population (CNS, PNP, FNP) Prescriptive authority or currently eligible for prescriptive authority as an advanced practice nurse OR PA-C Certification as Physician’s Assistant Experience managing pediatric patients Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
