About the Vieth Institute for Real Estate Leadership

The Vieth Institute for Real Estate Leadership at Marquette University delivers applied, interdisciplinary education that prepares students to lead in commercial real estate. Led by seasoned professionals working in close coordination with nationally renowned faculty experts, the institute's mission is to support Marquette University students and alumni by delivering deep learning experiences that prepare them for fulfilling lives as servant leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lab Leadership: Coordinate monthly Lab activities and lead a weekly, at-least-one-hour meeting with all AI in Real Estate Lab students to discuss ideas, help solve problems, and brainstorm solutions for company projects. Help develop clear, documented expectations for student participants, including selection criteria, learning goals, IP treatment, etc.
  • Industry Partnership and Convening: Build a framework for corporate partners to join a paid version of the Lab, informed by best practices at peer programs (e.g., the University of Michigan's MAP, UC Berkeley's BEAR, and Stanford's comparable initiatives), and partner with the Executive Director to engage companies to participate. Provide clear cost-benefit definitions for the partnership and sign up at least 8-10 companies as partners.
  • Faculty Support: Provide at least one touchpoint per semester with Vieth Institute faculty, ideally through a training session or brief, along with individual meetings of 30 minutes or less as needed to help faculty integrate AI into their courses.
  • Interdisciplinary and Institutional Building: Partner with the Executive Director to engage students from across business, engineering, and law for the Lab, and support AI Forge student club leadership through mentoring and coaching, including inviting AI Forge leaders to participate in the Lab.
  • Documentation and Thought Leadership: Document lessons learned from the Lab and produce thought leadership content on its model and outcomes as time allows.
  • General: Perform other reasonable duties and responsibilities as requested, such as representing Marquette and the Vieth Institute in various venues, conversations, and speaking engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with other corporate partners and institutions of higher education, particularly those with complementary AI, technology, or real estate programs.
  • Consistent weekly meetings held with the cross-disciplinary AI and Real Estate Lab student cohort.
  • Effective oversight of lab meetings, including leadership of discussions and delivery of substantive feedback in share-out sessions.
  • Development of a corporate partnership framework for a paid version of the lab, with defined outcomes and deliverables.
  • Clear, documented expectations for student participants, including selection criteria, learning goals, IP treatment, and compensation structure.
  • Formalized partnership with AI Forge and other AI-focused student organizations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.
