About the role

The School of Korean at Middlebury College is seeking temporary Instructors of Korean for the summer 2026 session. The program runs from June 16 to August 15, 2026, and offers a unique blend of cultural immersion and rigorous classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Korean as a second language in a proficiency-oriented program.
  • Teach in an intensive Korean program.
  • Teach a cultural / interdisciplinary module such as music, poetry, arts, calligraphy, dance, Samulnori, Taekwondo or sports (preferred).

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (ABD or M.A. with strong credentials may also be considered).
  • DML (Doctorate of Modern Language).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team.
  • A creative, dynamic, flexible, and easy-going approach with openness for accepting new teaching methods and environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Korean as a second language in a proficiency-oriented program.
  • Experience teaching in an intensive Korean program.

Skills

  • Ability to teach a cultural / interdisciplinary module such as music, poetry, arts, calligraphy, dance, Samulnori, Taekwondo or sports (preferred).

Pay

Compensation will be determined on an individual basis as discussed with the Language School director.

Schedule

The positions are for the summer 2026 session, running from June 16 to August 15, 2026.
