Instructor of Criminal Justice

About the role

The Instructor of Criminal Justice serves as a faculty member, responsible for instructing students in SUSLA’s Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice and the Associate of Arts Louisiana Transfer Criminal Justice, online and on-campus programs. The instructor will develop and design curriculum plans which foster student learning and provide academic counseling to students.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the Criminal Justice programs.
• Assess the instructional needs of students in the program and coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs.
• Serve as a student advisor.
• Coordinate with other appropriate faculty to develop the annual core curriculum evaluations of the program, assessment of institutional effectiveness and prepare reports.
• Coordinate course textbook orders and course materials.
• Maintain communication and work cooperatively with instructors of off-campus instructional sites, including Dual Enrollment.
• Serve on institutional committees

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a Master’s degree with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Criminal Justice.
• Two to three years of successful teaching and instructional design experience
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Computer skills are necessary
• Strong attention to detail is essential

Qualifications

• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Online teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two to three years of experience working in the Criminal Justice field
