About the role
The University of San Diego, Professional and Continuing Education is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach and/or develop an online class for their Medical Billing and Coding course.
Responsibilities
- Teaching, assessing student progress in meeting the learning objectives through formal and informal assessment
- Holding office hours
- Meting required deadlines for submitting grades, attendance, and other information, as requested
- Adhering to safety procedures and departmental standards
Requirements
- Minimum of an associate degree in medical billing and coding as well as certification, including passing the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certification Exam
- Certification should be specific to medical coding and medical billing
- Experience in the medical field is essential, particularly in positions with responsibilities related to billing
- Knowledge of medical records management, medical terminology, administrative duties, skills for electronic medical record software programs, and healthcare theory and reasoning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system
