Instructor - Medical Billing and Coding

About the role

The University of San Diego, Professional and Continuing Education is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach and/or develop an online class for their Medical Billing and Coding course.

Responsibilities

• Teaching, assessing student progress in meeting the learning objectives through formal and informal assessment
• Holding office hours
• Meting required deadlines for submitting grades, attendance, and other information, as requested
• Adhering to safety procedures and departmental standards

Requirements

• Minimum of an associate degree in medical billing and coding as well as certification, including passing the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certification Exam
• Certification should be specific to medical coding and medical billing
• Experience in the medical field is essential, particularly in positions with responsibilities related to billing
• Knowledge of medical records management, medical terminology, administrative duties, skills for electronic medical record software programs, and healthcare theory and reasoning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Canvas learning management system
