Instructor III - ELT-HR-26001

Part-time position at the Employee Fitness & Wellness Center (12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035). Hours are between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, not to exceed 900 hours per year.

About the role

Share your passion for fitness through group fitness classes and special events to improve the wellbeing of Fairfax County Government employees and retirees.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and conduct safe and effective exercise classes.
• Set up and break down classes in a timely manner.
• Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of fitness class equipment.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
• Maintain class attendance records.
• Assist with special events, as needed.
• Update and maintain certifications as required.
• Enforce facility rules and escalate member questions and concerns as needed.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Positive and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Current, nationally recognized CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
• Current, nationally recognized certification as a Group Fitness Instructor (such as ACSM, ACE, AFAA, RYT).

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in fitness class instruction.
• Specialty fitness certifications (Zumba, Barre, Pilates, Kettlebell, etc.).

Physical Requirements

• All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to engage in physical activity.
• Ability to operate fitness equipment.
• Ability to perform CPR and first aid.

Special Requirements

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

This position may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are not eligible for benefits and are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.

Pay

Starting at $25.43 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
